Buzzing for biodiversity at Ginninderry

Something wonderful is taking root at the Ginninderry development in Macnamara—pollinator corridors designed to help native bees and other pollinators thrive all year round.

Working with Redbox Design Group and with support from the ACT Government, Ginninderry is planting a network of flowering plants in a series of 200 x 200 metre grids. The aim is to ensure nectar and pollen are available throughout every season, providing a reliable food source for pollinators.

Why 200-metre grids?

Most native bees forage within a range of 200–400 metres, so carefully planning the plantings means there's always food close to home. These corridors will help connect habitat, support healthy pollinator populations, and boost biodiversity across the development.

Food is only part of the story. Nesting habitat is just as important, so native bee hotels are also being installed at key locations. These provide safe nesting sites for solitary native bees such as Leafcutter Bees, Resin Bees and many other species.

We've been proud to work with Ginninderry on the pollinator corridor project since 2015, and seeing this vision come to life is an exciting milestone.
